It's been over two years since we starting restoring a 1968 Dodge Charger. It's currently at the paint shop. When it will be returned to us we aren't sure. It's partially painted (interior, engine compartment, door facing and such). This in itself is exciting but as you might guess we are anxious to get it back so we can start reassembling it.

Over the past two years we have taken hundreds of pictures to document our work / progress. Recently we upload some of the pictures to Photobucket. We have since put together a couple short slideshows with comments.

The first slideshow documents the Charger's original as purchased condition. If there is enough interest we'll compile more slideshows and post links to them here.

Use this link to reach the slideshow. It is recommended you select "slow" play (lower left hand corner) so as to be able to read the test:

I spy a red/white/blue upper door panel Charger emblem, early '68 decklid, and a '67 steering wheel.  I'm guessing you have an early model. :2thumbs:   Hold on to those goodies!  And keep us updated with the progress.

The sticker in the middle of the rear window was one for the US Automobile Association. There were two others on the bumpers, one front the other on the back.

I agree it was an early 68 build. According to the VIN decoder it was the 26,282nd car scheduled for production at the
Hamtramck, MI assembly plant. I'd be curious to know how many was produced there in 1968.

I'm assuming you don't have a fendertag?

According to my VIN, my car (also a Hamtramck car) was the 35,435th and the build date on the fender tag is 9/18/67...so yours is obviously an early Sept/late Aug build. :2thumbs:

We have the fender tag and the buildsheet but have paid little attention to them since we plan to clone this car as an R/T model.

Not a complete double skin to the trunk lid? I dont think I have seen what you are talking about. Wouldnt that make the trunk extra flimsy.

White with a green vinyl top?!?  :o My car's near identical twin!  :o The only difference between my car and yours is that mine was a low-perf 383.  Early build date even (9/28/67).

Still in its original colors? Do post some pictures, would love to see em.

Yours have green interior too? Also was yours a "ordered car" or a "sales bank" car, meaning, someone actually configured the car as such. Our car was a sales bank car, which means Dodge built it and sent it to a dealership hoping someone would buy it.

I hadn't thought about leaving the sticker on mine, but I may reconsider it now... I'll have to take another look at how good the glass is.
