A funny thing happened on the way to the E-body

I'm reluctant to even post this because it's one of those topics where everyone wants more info, especially pics, and out of respect for the owners wishes what I post is all that I'm going to for now.
A buddy and I went out into the countryside today to investigate an E-body shell.  The ponycar in question ties in with a local and expensive E-body that was restored not long ago.  There were rumors about it being a rebody and then a few weeks ago my buddy thought he spotted an E-body shell out in a field in the original color of the car in question and on a farm that belongs to family of the cars owner.  Long story short on that chapter, we found the shell and confirmed that the resto is a rebody.  Big deal right?
Well, on the way home we noticed the front of an orange 70 Charger peeking out of a shop and a guy walking around it.  So, we wheeled in and discovered an orignal owner 1970 Charger RT 440 Six Pack four speed car.  Needless to say, he is tired of people stopping and asking if the car is for sale and he plans to restore it.  I checked the tag and it was the real deal.
All in all it was an exciting find and I wish I could post more here to prove the find but I am going to respect his wishes.  I paln to keep intouch with him and if I gain his trust I'll get pics for everyone.  The bottom line is, there are still some very rare and cool cars out there waiting to be discovered, you just have to get off the interstates and keep your eyes peeled.

wow Ghoste     sounds like you had a great day  sure would of liked to of  tagged along on that trip    ..great find & detective work on the Challenger body .. wonder whats going to happen to it  sounds like a real nice charger ,
looking forward to seeing & reading any more stuff on this should you be allowed to post it in the  ! future

Were the confidential numbers and dash vin missing on the shell?

Jeez, if someone is going to do an illegal rebody they should at least have the brains to cover their tracks.

We couldn't get close enough to the ponycar to see if the numbers were removed from the cowl.  I know the dash and vin are in the rebodied version that is out there (I never said it was a Challenger), and from where we were it looked like the front was intact.  I plan to sneak back there sometime when I can go around to the front of the car.
As for posting pics, well, sorry Bronzy but that is exactly what the owner of the Charger does NOT want.  The only way I will be able to keep closer contact with the car is to respect that.  As for pics of the other one, not until I get more off of it, the whole world reads this suff and it wouldn't help me much for the owner to see his car on some forgotten rusty cars website and move the shell.
We saw a few other great automotive archeology discoveries but none of them topped the Charger.  I may post pics of some of it soon enough but in hindsight I probably shouldn't have even put up this much.  It was an exciting afternoon though so I had to share it.
