Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

My wife's a fan of his & has a few of his CD's. Not sure if we had a chance to see him live yet, I'll have to ask her in the morning.   :shruggy:

I was at a coffee shop out at the beach a few days ago, and noticed a guy playing outside so i went to investigate..
There was a young skinny guy named Kevin, playing some simple chords and simple songs he wrote and we got to talkin'...
He mentioned that his friend who came wandering over was the "Real Guitar Player". he was bit older and had obviously been around the block a couple or a few dozen times,.. he had hands like a bear, big thick Bass Player fingers and the younger man handed him the acoustic and urged him to play,.. and so Dan began picking this amazing song of his own creation covering the neck top to bottom with all these interesting inverted harmonics based on the chords
and amazingly he reached way up the neck and deftly pulled off all these higher notes dispite his bigg dirty mitts.. and though he had an inital false start - he prompty apologised began again and never missed a lick after...
I was pretty well impressed with his skill and facility so I asked what kind of guitar he played and he very sadly told of hocking his guitar a while before...
So we spent the next hour or so passing this guitar around sharing our original songs and spoke of Ritchie Haven's, storytelling, Neil Young's Rust never sleeps album and the crazy wack girlfriends that had brought these two young men to San Francisco from Ore.
The interesting thing was the guitar - this pretty new and really cheap acoustic was an absolute biotch to play, the action was obviously far too high and I had to really struggle and curse at it to play a decent chord with out flubbing a couple notes.  Bending was absolutly out of the question as a quarter note was about the best I could do,.. And I'm all about bending strings...   :P
But this other Cat, Dan? played the living crap out of that plank of wood making it do whatever he wished without effort seemingly and never missed a beat or a note and nailing all these tremendous bends and harmonics...

I went to Dairy Queen in October and there was a guy sitting outside playing guitar. He looked homeless. He was playing guitar using his ID card. I had a pick in my pocket so I gave it to him. He sure was grateful. :yesnod:

Great stories, both of them!

Don't ever lose that willingness to help someone else Cody, it's a rare gift that you have there.  It's the philosophy that is "Good Will" and it's all too rare in this world.
It may not make you rich, but it's just the look on someone else's face when you help them, with no regard for yourself,  and never wanting a thing in return. :2thumbs:

I just thought...."Damn, he's using his ID card for picking" and I just came from a guitar store so I gave him my pick. :)

Dave, I asked my wife & yes, we did see Adrian Legg perform. I guess after seeing so many shows over the years you just lose track.

If you like Adrian, here's another acoustic player you might like.

Micheal Hedges We saw him a few times, & always played solo. He was killed in a car accident in 1997 at age 43.

Never saw or even heard of this guy, Tony Seeger, but it came up on youtube under "Guitar-Harp" & I thought it was a pretty cool sound.
