Yea yea, I know its cold outside but I'm planning ahead,, for once  :nana:

Hears the deal.. I found a sanden 508 compressor to replace my Harley V twin air conditioning compressor. Heres the problem,, The top radiator hose,, It has to come out the top, clear the belts and connect to the top LEFT (looking at it from behind) of the radiator. The auto pars store keeps giving me stock hoses which I assume would work as the compressor is in the same place but they don't. Any suggestions??

This is what my set up looks like except the PS pump is on the AC bracket,, I modified it to accommodate the sanden.

AC cars used a right angle t-stat housing that pointed to the passenger side of the car. Upper hose connection was either in the middle or on the right side of the top tank

Then you got a problem, you won't find a molded hose that will fit.Easiest thing is have a good radiator shop change the top fitting to the other side.

G'day Bob,

sorry i can't help, but I am glad to see someone else is having problems with their A/C systems. :icon_smile_big:

http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,52186.0.html

I would love to be able to install a Sanden unit in my car, but for me to import one would cost a motza. As it is I have to try and rebuild that great big engine they call a compressor. Tell me......do the original A/C hoses bolt straight onto the sanden compressor or do you need new hoses and fittings (you can tell I'm no A/C expert). :shruggy:

No, I know it will fit but would it cause cooling issues with the hoses on the same side?

Yer bottom hose should be on the drivers side of the radiator....if you put yer top hose in the middle, or on the passenger side, you should have no problems

THE FIRST PROBLEM IS... BB cars have the radiator upper outlet on passenger side... That should it be the first step to be corrected!

What about the bottom hose Nacho? Is it on the same side? My water pump exits toward the passengers side.

I say if your not big on exact authenticy get rid of the clutch fan and throw a nice aluminum rad with the outlet on the other side and a nice single or dual electric fan setup.

And the bottom hose is on the same side.

A383Wing

All my big blocks lower hose is on the drivers side....sounds like you got wrong water pump housing and radiator....maybe

No Im not big on origional but I dont have the cash for all that. Do the big block rads have the inlet and outlet on the same side?

If I can find a hose with two turns in it I can hook it up as shown:

How close is the compressor to the hose? The thing id worry about is a motor mount breaking and the compressor making a nice hole in the hose.

I dont know if its mine or all of em but my inlet and outlet are on the same side (passenger).

Its got an inch or two all around. I may just have the top outlet whacked off and brazed back on the other side or the middle.

This would make life a lot easier....it swivels so you can place the hose where it needs to be.  :2thumbs:

Re visiting this thread.

Seems as though the stock top hose on most 440's with air exits out the top and connect to the passengers side of the radiator.

Then it seems that the wampump exits out to the drivers side and connects to the drivers side bottom of the radiator.

This 440 water pump exits out the passengers side so it makes sense it would connect to the passengers side of the radiator.

Anybody know what 440's exited out the passengers side (water pump) and if so how did they do the top hose with the AC and all??

My radiator has top hose drivers side, bottom hose passengers side.
