I getting ready to assemble my engine. New aluminum heads, aluminum intake, aluminum waterpump and housing. I'm undecided on painted everything orange with original valve covers or leaving the aluminum parts as is, no paint. Opinions and pics welcome.

I painted the block black and left the aluminum parts as-is on my 383. It's not original anyway. If you paint the block orange, do it all orange.  :Twocents:

I like the "Day 2" look personally but with a set of stock valvecovers painted orange it might look a little odd under the hood.  :scratchchin: If you're trying for the stock look paint the whole engine assembly together. I like the look of Brian's engine bay...sneaky, other than the headers.  :icon_smile_big:

Here's mine....less sneaky

Foreman....those are fabricated aluminum valvecovers....i had the breather towers tigged on to help with oil drainback. Standard type breathers tend to mist the engine bay with oil when you hammer on the engine hard.

Isn't bare aluminum a little high maintenance? Looks good for a while but soon become a PITA to keep nice.

aluminum only becomes hard to get clean when its not been maintained. it would be tough to keep clean in a 4x4 that sees alot of off road action.   if they get a little dirty brake clean cleans them right up. i spend more time cleaning my plug wires than i do the aluminum.

Here is a picture of my engine.  512" stroker with a solid roller cam.  I opted to leave the aluminum heads, water pump, and intake unpainted.
