Come Monday I figure I'll go ahead and call Firm Feel about a new steering box. Who has dealt with them? Was there a wait or do they keep them stocked up?

I bought the stage 2 box from them.  Got it right away.  They keep some already built.  Now, if you want yours rebuilt, it might take a while.  There was a $175 core charge.  And it cost me something like $50 to ship my core to them.  For my 69 I went with the large sector box.  They said it was better design and wasn't so prone to leaking at the seals.  And the pitman arm is available from Moog at a pretty good price.  If you rebuild the small sector box used up to, I think 72 or so, you will have to buy the pitman from Rare Parts Inc.  Pretty expensive.

Right on man, thanks. I think I'll go with a large sector box as they recommend on their website, and the pitman arm for it is $18 on Rockauto!  :2thumbs: Now if only Monday would come. . .

Forgot to say that they said it was OK to return a small sector box even if you are buying a large sector box.  I don't know but would think that the small sector boxes are maybe harder for them to get but I didn't care since the boxes look identical and I'am not doing a numbers matching restoration.  You do save the cast aluminum output piece off yours since it is different than the one that comes on the later box as the orientation of the return pipe is at a different angle.  In fact, the rebuilt box doesn't have this piece but had a clear plastic cover they attach to keep debris out.  But I think they tell you this on their website.

Might check with them and see if they have a deal with a shipping company.  Probably don't but some places do and it allows you to ship your core back at a lower price.

I just pulled out my steering box this morning because it was leaking bad. I am thinking about going with a stage 3 with the larger sector shaft. Anybody using it?

Well I called today and got a large sector box. He said that they were backed up to 3 weeks now and to expect that long of a wait before getting it. Oh well, that'll give me time to pull my core out. I went ahead and got the '73 Charger pitman arm from Advance and it was $54.99 . . .

What stage did you get? What was the part # for the pitman arm from Advance Auto for the large sector shaft? I also called them up this morning. I am going to order the stage 3 with the large sector shaft tommorrow. I have to find a box to ship them my core.

I went with the Stage 2 myself. The pitman arm was Moog part # K7076.
