Happy New Year (almost)

Wilst walking around the shop this morning early I decided to clean out the exhaust bolt threads on my heads as we anticipate getting the motor in this weekend after a year of working on stuff. I used the tap and t handle on the first few and then grabbed the battery drill (Bad Move) Mind you these holes were already clean but I am a bit OCD.  So anyway, I ran the drill in and out a few no problem then suddenly,,, SNAP! yep, snapped the tap off flush in the hole (because it bottomed out. I was not using a flat tap). So,, I went into the house (its 6am) and kicked the dog a few times then proceeded to beat my head against the wall waking up everyone in the house. My colorful use of words was enough to deter them from asking me what happened. So now I have a tap broke off flus in one of the center holes,,, bummer.

I have a friend Eddy, an ol timey dirt racer that knows everything. He said:   "Well looky here,, ya takes yer torch and heat that bugger up till its red hot, then hit the oxegion and it will blast the thing out" Funny but I seem to remember doing this about 30 years ago but forgot about it. Eddy then said "Oh and ya better wear some of them there safety glasses"

So anyway,, yea,, poof it was gone and the threads are perfect so now on to my question:

There was one little piece left and when I poked it with a screwdriver it disappeared like it fell in to the water jacket or something. Is that where it went and do I need to silicone the exhaust bolts because some of them protrude into the water jacket? And do i need to find that little piece?
