Extremal stupid but necessary question.

On the bb 440 intake, felpro shows what appears to be 4 gaskets in the gasket set plus the valley pan set. Seeing that this is my first I thought i's better ask,, gasket, valley pan, gasket?? Also,, need any goop (silicone) anywhere like in the corners of a Small Block Chevy (that I am more familiar with)

Thanks!

I've always used just the valley pan. Sometimes a little RTV around the ports and in the corners for insurance.

All you need is the valley pan and silicon. Just how the factory did it.

Bob, I sent you a pm (personal message) about the truck mounts.   I really could use them. Thanks,Mike

what the others said  :yesnod: ..... silicone around the ports both sides of the valley  pan  :yesnod:  ..although if you have a aluminum intake  ...its recomended that gaskets are used   :yesnod:  either side the valley pan !! .... but i only used the gasket on intake manifold side  .... when i had a aftermarket intake on .... did not see the sence  useing 4, i'm sure there is a reason though ??  :scratchchin: :-\ .............. :popcrn:

I have an aluminum manifold and if you try and install the manifold with those four gaskets in, I can tell you for sure that the bolts holes no longer line up on mine.

This came up here once before (or was it on the old site?) but I forget the theory behind it.  Seems tome it was some kind of generic Chevy style add in that the gasket makers just weren't cluing in on.  I'm pretty sure it was Chryco Psycho who had the reason.
