The 1st pic appears to be taken @ Darlington.I am judging by the proximity of the stands to the track and that they are covered. It looks like the area coming off of old turn 4 and new turn 2.JW

After we figure out the Permatex car and the Union 76 Girls on the red & white daytona. Then we have to figure out whos daytona Dan Gurney was on when he sat on the wing. And also whos superbird it was in Jan 70 Motor Trend front cover .And whos daytona Bob Roger sat on.And who's daytona Larry Shinoda was next to .Should keep us busy for a while :smilielol:

Not like I have a whole lot going on for oh lets say the next 25-30 years other than keeping track of these cars. So I guess being on the hunt to find out who's cars these are in the pictures isn't too bad of a thing right? I mean I already stare at pictures for hours upon end anyways.

That's true, but Daytona had the Permatex 300 Late Model Sportsman race.   Old Daytona had covered stands in the tri-oval.     If you look close at the original photo, it appears the roof sections are slightly curving.    The later photo here of JD McDuffie shows the covered seats and the observer boxes on the roof.

Update, the photo posted is cropped from the original 8 x 10.    The actual Dodge press photo shows the "D" from DAYTONA USA off to the right.   So it's taken just past start/finish at Daytona.

The caption reads:

HELLO THERE - The other peeker is Linda Robertson of West Palm Beach leaning against the rear stabilizer of the Dodge Charger Daytona.  Linda will debut as Miss Permatex at Talladega on October 24th,   From Dodge Public Relations.   Photo ID 69-6240.

Why is the pair of stickers on the right of a Daytona, and it says trans-am? Sorry if someone already asked...
I'd rather die than go to heaven.

Ghoste

Because the Trans-Am series was very hot in 69 and 70 and the Daytona looked the part and the artist was a fool and all they wanted to do was make a cool sticker for a dollar in their pockets.
