I still have a points distribitor in my 383   is there any difference in performance if i was to swap it out with electronic?

It's well worth it.  Set it and forget it.

The MP complete kits also have a better advance curve.  Even if you get something like the Pertronix kit, you still get the benefit of stable dwell and more reliable spark.  It is one of the best changes you can make under the hood.

I swapped both my Chargers, 318 & 383 to electronic ignition. You won't see a big difference  in performance. What you get is one less thing to worry about on a long road trip.
As the others said, well worth it.
