Hi, I'm Justin and I live in North Central Texas.  I've been researching on this forum for a couple months now and I really appreciate all of the information here.

Anyway, I got my hands on a '69 charger that is a total basket case back in September.  I ran the fender tag and found out it was an original RT 440 automatic car.  The original engine is long gone and the car came with a locked up 383 and what I think is a 727.  She's gonna need quarters and trunk pan (less rust overall than I expected).  I didn't get a rearend with the car, and don't have the rest of the original drivetrain, so here's the tentative plan.

1.  440 or hemi (I'd be okay with a 440, I'd like an honest 500 hp, but hemi's are just too cool)
2.  T56 transmission  (I know the trans tunnel would need to be redone, but that's not a problem.  Somebody apparently was gonna do a 4 speed in her at one time and did not cut the tunnel very well)
3.  Dana 60 rearend  (who doesn't want one?)
4.  Subframe connectors, reinforce k-member and lcas, front rad support brace maybe
5.  17" wheel and tire combo wide as I can get
6.  Maybe later model front buckets (I didn't get front seats)
7.  Maybe custom console (didn't get one of those either, and if i want a 6 speed I doubt that the original would work out anyway)
8.  God knows what else I'd need along the way

I realize that this will be expensive and time consuming, my cousin runs a drag race chassis shop so I have seen what guys go through to get their cars together the way they want them.  If you couldn't tell, I'm going for a pro touring type ride but She'll be almost all street driven with an occasional test and tune at the drags for fun.  I really want a car I can go on Hot Rod Power Tour with someday.

So without being too long winded (I could write a book about what I really want)  What do you guys think?

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

That sounds good, just keep a steady flow of cash available so you dont get discouraged.  Oh and we need some pics!   :drool5:

Welcome, welcome,, welcome......

We have a proven combo's area that will help you pick what you will need for the motor. Yes, if it's a 383 and an automatic it would be a 727.

It sounds like a great find and a better project.. Just try to do everything you can to enjoy the build. It's easy to become discouraged, but if you have a real goal and plan for time and money you will be in great shape.....

Wow!  Thanks for the replies, guys!

Pics on the way soon.  I've been really busy today and it is COLD (well, cold enough for us Texans) in the shop today.

It is a very ambitious plan, but it will be worth it when you get it done.  I love my t56!

Hmmmm      Sounds like a good plan to me man   :2thumbs:

In retrospect I wish I had gone with a T56 instead of my TKO - nothing wrong with the TKO but sometimes I wish I had a .5 OD gear   :D

Can Cody use them for his site?

I'm having trouble posting pics, as soon as I figure it out they'll be here and Cody is welcome to use any or all.

Ok, I think this will work, they're blurry but I'll get some better ones.
