Well thanks to my adorable son who was sick last week, I got the flu!  :eek2: Let me tell you it was BRUTAL!!! My head felt like it was going to explode , with my eye's popping out  :o! Could not get out of bed for three days!  :rotz: I am thinking about getting the flu shot in hopes that it will prevent me getting it again, but I've never had one. Anybody had bad complications from the shot? :shruggy: I have heard bad horror stories from getting the shot, but I'm thinking that this year is gonna be bad for colds.  :yesnod: I think I'm gonna get the kids the nasal spray version, Chuck won't get the shot as he is DEADLY AFRAID of NEEDLES! (Pansy!)

Anybody have good or bad experiences with the flu shot?  :shruggy:
Thanks, and be healthy! :icon_smile_big:

I had what I thought was the common cold last weekend. Felt bad but was functional. Felt great this weekend. Had a busy saturday and nite. Went to bed about 2am and woke up at 6am and had a bad bad sore throat and its been down hill since then for me. Been flat on my back for 2 days now. Get up everyonce in a while.

I usually have one every year. Been doing it for about 5 years now. Makes your arm kinda hurt for a few day's but other then that I have not seen anything to drive me away from doing one. I hate being sick. It sucks and I'll do anything to try to prevent geting the flu. That really sucks. Just remember, Just because you have a flu shot doesn't mean your completely protected. You can still get different strains that the shot you get this year isnt protecting you against. It's a roll of the dice but the way I look at it some protections better then none. You have to decide.

I get one every year because I am a custodian at a high school. This year I got one like around noon one day and I barely made it through the day. I got home and went to bed with a slight fever and then my head cloged up. The next day it was all gone. Another lady at work had the same deal. Her doctor said it was a reaction from the shot. That was the first time I had a reaction. Every year the shot is a little different. Makes mre wonder about getting one next year though. Get well Lisa  :2thumbs:

I am still OK, flu is not here yet.

By the way, there is one product here which is good to use before winter. It is combination of Royal Jelly, vitamin C and some other natural products (pastilles) which you can take as a candy (melt in your mouth or chew). Excellent to keep your immunity, also against stress, tiredness, antioxidant effetc etc. I suppose you should be able to find something similar there.
Last two winters I went through without a problem.

Oh, for men there is a side effect - it stimulates se***l activity so you might have more se***l desire  :boogie:

Get the shot. :2thumbs:

The Flu vaccine does not protect you from other viruses that sometimes feel like the flu. If you get the flu or get sick after a flu shot, it is because you were actually exposed to someone with the flu virus prior to receiving the shot. :yesnod:

Worst thing that should happen is maybe a sore arm.

Remember, Influenza is a disease and is far more dangerous than a bad cold.  It is a disease of the nose, throat, and lungs, and it can lead to pneumonia.

70R/T are you allergic to eggs or parts there of, you might have had a reaction because the vac is made with eggs.  Maybe that is what happened to you and your colleague at work.

Hope you feel better Lisa. :pity:

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Here's some reading for ya'll.  Ever wonder why the call it flu season?  Also some of the theories why influenza is heightened certain times of the year.

Who knows Mike. At least I got the shot if anything else. No not allergic to eggs. I have gotten the shot every year for a long time now and no side effects.

I got it twice so far. Once from my mom who is a nurse and the second time a month later I got it from the inmates at work. Hopefully thats it for this year.

I'm suffering from the 3.2 flu this morning...  :eek2:

KS71owner

Got my flu shot this year, had a couple minor 24 bugs but nothing too bad so far. I try to get my flu shot every year now because I got knocked on my a$$ a few years ago during my sophomore year in college and gave it to my dad too - we were both completely useless for nearly a week.

CB

I missed the opportunity to get my shot for free (through work) because I was visiting friends in Vegas ;D

I caught the flu last month and it took three days to recover from it (still, it was not as bad as last years flu).  This year I caught it from my mother, who is a school teacher, when she had it the previous week thanks to sick students.  I am one of the unfortunate ones that can not get a flu shot due to an egg allergy.  They grow the weak flu virus for the shots in egg album, which will trigger an episode (worse than just having the flu) to people like me......

The real flu is a killer. 36,000 a year die from it. With the real flu there's usually no question. You're down and out and in bed for at least 7-10 days and sometimes longer. Most people just catch a virus and don't actually have the real flu. Kansas has just recorded now It's first case of the season.
