Mopar shows at Chrysler dealerships are usually sponsered/supported by the dealership themselves. I don't think Chrysler has anything to do with them. Other Mopar shows are usually set up and sponsered by Mopar clubs.

I know they do a little sponsorship at a couple of the larger ones but I'm not privy to the details.  I would think the amount they contribute is fairly small in the grand scheme of things.  As to whether or not they care, only in as much as they hope it will help them to sell new cars.

There's a show in Mississauga, Ontario - at the parts distribution centre.
I don't think they really sponsor it, but they allow it - including opening up normally fenced-in areas for parking, show and vendor spaces.

There's another show right at the Brampton assembly plant that used to be run by a local club, but this past year, the plant asked an employee - also a LX Charger enthusiast - to organize it. They brought out a few Challengers for display - and this was before any were shipped out to the public - if I remember correctly.

That was a bit of a different show because the new stuff out numbered the old - where the old show was pretty much all older stuff.
Still it was a great turn out and pretty fun - it was the first car show I was ever in too.  :nana:

Years ago there was a show held at the Chrysler Assembly plant in Belvidere, IL that was coordinated by the Chicagoland Mopar Connection & the WPC clubs.  I believe that it was cancelled after Daimler bought Chrysler.

Not care isn't 100% true, just not worth the effort.  They are in business to sell four door sedans and minivans... lots and lots and lots of them.  We as enthusiast represent a very tiny part of the market to them and worse (for us) we are considered to be "captive customers".  That is to say, we are loyal for the most and therefore not worth extra marketing efforts because we are the easy sell.  The money and time in marketing is invested in getting other brand owners to convert.  So they do care about us in a sense, they just have bigger nuts to crack.

Well there are a lot of people that wont forget the 1980s when chrysler was going after EVERYONE for using Mopar.... clubs, magazines, and that pissed a lot of people off. From what I know they couldnt care less about us!

That part hasn't changed, they still want their piece of the pie no matter how small.

Chrysler has been huge in the past couple years in supporting our big LX meet (500+ cars) out here in So Cal, the Spring Festival. I don't know just how involved they are this year, but they are in some way or another.

Exactly, new cars are the market they want and if they can gather a group of enthusiasts for a car they offer currently, then it's a good use of the marketing budget.
