Dunno about powermaster alts. I have heard good and bad stuff from them, but any alt between 75-90 amps output will be perfect if you have everything stock.

If you have a modern audio stereo that alt will be enough. Diff story is if you have a BIG power plant for it. With normal powerplants those alts will be enough too because modern audio devices are low consumption compairing old fashion equipments

you can upgrade your original alt with more power kits available, keeping same existant housing. For more read:

"dual field" alts are made to match with elect regulators... do you need them ?... well, elec regulators are more eficient, but you/we have now new elect regulators available that works like the mechanical regulators with single field alts now, inside same box in fact. Those are made to keep the stock single field alt and old fashion look. Then you have same higher output upgrade kits for those.

its twice now i ve gone to a show and i ve gone to drive home and the battery is flat,i want to solve this problem once and for all.

electronic ignition doesn't mean electronic regulator. in 71 we had electronic regulators and dual fields alts, but still breaker points ignition.

If you have already done for electronic ignition, SURE is better use electronic regulator and dual field alts. Electronic ignitions NEEDS more stable electric power.

In fact although elec regulators were available since 71, then on 72 I think regulators were redesigned or reengineered for EVEN BETTER power ouptut  being the first introduction of electronic ignition ( although was optional ). I can't say that for experience, just because there was two PN for those. as Far I know one for breaker point ign setup and the other one for elect ign setup.
