66-67 Charger headliners

More for my own knowledge than anything but does anyone know how these things were made?  They aren't the typical cloth affair with the metal crossbows through it, they are a rigid one piece panel with some kind of black flocking that almost looks sprayed on.

they are I believe a fiberglass panel with a felt liner, a friend of mine used black felt and spray adhesive and redone his and turned out great.

Really, felt?  I guess the texture is like felt, do you know if they spray it with something to make it "firm" like that?
