What carb for my 440?

What carb would work best with a mildly built 440 with 727 trans and 3.55 gear, I'm planning on finding a rpm intake for it.

Should I just do everything Edelbrock or would a Holley work better?

I prefer the Holley, I have run one on my 440 for years and never had any problems with it, the Holley is very tweakable, you can change so many parts on them, I had one edelbrock and hated it, I never could get it to run right, it was always flooding out, I finally threw it away, my vote is Holley all the way. :Twocents:

I like the Proform carbs which are a holley 4150-4160 style carb. Lots of tunability  :2thumbs:

i like edelbrock carbs . yes Holley's are faster at the track but my cars lay around a lot . the Holley's always ended up dumping and needing to adjust the floats . the edelbrock carbs seem to survive the years better without needing anthing . Rene
I won't be wronged, I wont be Insulted and I wont be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to others, and I require the same from them.

The Carter styled Eddys are a great street carb.  No where near the tuning options of a Holley but more than they get credit for and certainly enough for most street applications.  I have a Holley on my car but if I were to build a car that was just for the street, I still have Carters and an Eddy around here that I'd use.  If you do decide to go for an Edelbrock over a Holley, go with the AVS one though, it's easier to adjust the secondary tip in on them.

I used the Holey 770 street Avenger and performer RPM intake on mine. Didn't have to do anything to it.
