Currently have a 440ci with Engle K56 cam and the 440 source stealth heads. Id say 380-390hp currently. Headers go on this week so id say thats good for another 10 hp. What do you think would get me over the 500hp mark- supercharger? I cruise in the car alot so was leaning the supercharger. If so, which make supercharger would you go with? Thanks for any suggestions/input.

mikesbbody

what sort of supercharger do you want? sticking out the hood? or under the hood? thesuperchargerstore.com sell under the hood style superchargers if that's what your looking for.

73TXRallye440

sorry, I should have specified. Under hood, under the bulge hood. Doesnt have to be flashy, prefer it not to be. Just needs to get the job done.

mikesbbody

If you dont want anything flashy under the hood why not go for a stroker? www.440source.com the D1 supercharger from www.thesuperchargerstore.com is (imo) a bit flashy and i think (could be wrong) you may have to relocate your battery to the trunk? hopefully someone will chime in if im wrong.
The 500 h.p + you wanted can be achieved with a 440 even without the stroker and easily with a stroker.  :Twocents:

Get yourself the following....

Engle K60/K62 on a 110LSA
Edelbrock aluminum heads (box stock with gasket match)
Indy dual plane (gasket match and clean up)
Holley or Edelbrock 850cfm

If you got 10-10.5: compression with the above stuff you're good for 575hp
1968 Dodge Charger - 6.1L Hemi / 6-speed / 3.55 Sure Grip

2013 Dodge Challenger R/T - 5.7L Hemi / 6-speed / 3.73 Limited Slip

1964 Dodge Polara 500 - 440 / 4-speed / 3.91 Sure Grip

1973 Dodge Challenger Rallye - 340 / A-518 / 3.23 Sure Grip

hey, I currently have the Engle K56 cam and the 440 source stealth heads. How does the K60 or K62 CAMP differ from the K56?

What is a 110LSA?

How do the 440 stealth aluminum heads differ from the Edelbrock you recommended?

What about a dominator carb?

Rolling_Thunder

The K60/K62 cam has more duration and more lift than the K58...    the 110 is the lobe separation angle -

The stealth heads are good heads - they are close to the edelbrock heads in flow rate and style.

Dominator might be a bit much on the street...

I'm just waiting for Ron to chime in with his  :Twocents:

thanks thunder for the input, im a newb when it comes to this engine stuff so I appreciate all the info I can get. When I buy that cam, is it a pretty straight forward install or is there alot entailed in a cam swap from the K56 to the K62?

Would that work or is that too much?

VERY important to get the Compression Ratio "up" ,to the stated 10-10.5:1 area, to work with the better Camshaft K62.

Match sufficient convertor & gearing,

do you have headers ?

Decent Intake ?

Only wimps wear Bowties !

The K-60/K-62 is not listed in their catalogue...     however you can ask them to custom grind the cam for you - - -

The specs would be as follows.

Intake (K60)
288* Advertised Duration
238* Duration at 0.050" Lift
.535" Gross Valve lift

Exhaust (K62)
291* Advertised Duration
244* Duration at 0.050" Lift
.539" Gross Valve Lift

This will make a "Dual pattern" camshaft - meaning the intake and exhaust lobes are NOT the same...      still waiting for Ron to give his blessing

Hmmm, not sure.

CR is 9.5 to 1
Headers are being installed this week
Gears are 3.55
Torque Converter is WEAK
Intake- dual plane, but unsure what kind

what intake do you suggest? what torque converter?

Your engine should be well over 400hp....probably closer to 430 hp. The headers will help a bunch, inmo.

A little more compression (10-10.5) would help and a good carb & intake manifold.

The k60/k62 would be a nice upgrade but you would need more stall speed and more gear to make it work properly....with that cam. The valvetrain would probably need upgrading as well (adjustable rocker arms/matching pushrods) and the idle quality would change. It would also need some more compression and new valvesprings.
