Okay, just wondering how many 340 cars starting with WL21 in the VIN were built. My dad has a 72 Dodge Charger Rallye Coupe. It's a factory Hemi Orange 340, 727 car with the Half Canopy Top on it. Anyone have an idea of how many were made in this combo? I know the Coupe is rare but, the fact of the other options would make it rarer. My dad has had it 30 years this coming year. It needs to be fixed up but, I might just do it.

The white book indicates 163 units sold.   funny thing is that the breakdown is 118 auto, 39 4 speed which only accounts for 157.

Hmmm interesting numbers. I will work on it eventually in a few years. For now it will stay stored in my dads heated garage. I need to find and I will probably have to buy a few more parts. Thank you both though.

Oh yeah. Just wanted to post a couple of more rare things about the car. It was a Bench Seat and Automatic on the Column Rallye 340.

I believe when you ordered a Coupe (WL21) a bench seat was all you could get.  Your car is definately a keeper!

Here are a couple pics of a WL21H2 car... the cool thing about this one is that it came with the N96 Ramcharger hood (I have a pic of the fender tag too)! :2thumbs:

did any 72 rallye cars come with a go wing?  I don't believe I have ever noticed but that would look cool.

That was one of my questions a while back. The literature says that the bench seat was the only seat available in a WL21 charger coupe, but my charger coupe came from the factory with a console, slap stik, and black bucket seats (fender tag code E6X9). I was wondering if anyone had seen another coupe with buckets?

To answer your question directly - no, never seen another coupe with buckets.  The scan below shows option C16 (console) is "NA" for coupes.  I know your car has it on the fender tag... it all comes back to "Never say Never with maMopar"

I'll try to remember to scan the rest of those option code sheets to check further.

I just found a picture from Monster mopar of a 72 rallye red with black chin spoiler and go wing.  It's ashame they did not put go wings on them because it looked real good.  I would post it but I don't have a scanner.
