Blinker problems.

So on my Belvedere I noticed the tail lights would stay on all the time at first I thought it was the stop light switch but tonight I decided to check and see if the blinkers still worked. And when I did I found out that when I turn the blinkers on the light goes out on one side. What would cause this to happen.

If it has worked corectly before and now you have a problem i would say your turn signal swith in the steering column.
