God bless ThePirateBay.org. Sorry, Lars, I'm one of "them". I got mine fo' FREE. From the sounds of this album, sounds like they have returned somewhat to their roots. I like it. They'll never duplicate Master Of Puppets' sound, or even ...And Justice For All. This is a good start, though. I think they ought to burn all copies of St. Anger that are left, and also accept them as legal tender for the new record, since so many people wasted their money on that piece of shit.

Regarding the "Long Live Pantera" statement...Pantera stepped in at a time when Metallica was slipping BADLY and they ruled Metal through the 90's. I saw them with Phil out front  in the late 80's Glam days and Terry Glaze (Lee) before him when I was in the Army. (Yes, I have all the albums and cds) They used to play a little club in Lawton, OK called The Hard Roxx Cafe a couple weekends a month and down in Wichita Falls, TX, too. So, I like to say, I knew them WHEN....Pantera kicks serious ass...no doubt. R.I.P. Darrell Abbott. 12-8-04

Give this new Metallica a spin. It's good.

If anyone wants to swap some rare metal for rare metal, I'm in. Just PM me.  :METAL:

one thing that burns my ass is people ripping on LARS for the stir he created about pirating music  :flame: thats how he makes his living and i see nothing wrong with protecting it . not only did he fight for METALLICA but for the little guy / new recording artist .

in a way i know what its all about being a UNION CARPENTER and dealing with illegals underminning wages .

none of these singers or groups hold a gun to your head and force you to buy an album .

it does suck to buy a CD for $14.99 or so and find that the only song on it that is good is the one you heard on the radio .  :flame: but still it doesnt justify downloading music for free from a pirate site .

theft is theft mo matter how much an item cost .  :flame:

Yes...Oranges and Tangerines.

Metallica was thrash metal band that cut their hair and went soft.

Pantera was a glam metal band that went heavy.

C'mon, are you honestly telling me that there's no skeletons rattling around in some closet of yours somewhere? Gimme a break.

Lars "making his living"? Don't try to compare a multi-multi-millionaire to those who have to go out to a shitty job every day trying to "make a living". When Lars, James, Cliff, and Kirk started out, they were 4 talented alcoholics siiting around smoking dope all day; guys you wouldn't stick up for in 1981, but are the greatest humans alive in 2008, trying to get by on multiple-platinum-selling albums. I'm willing to bet that Metallica will be able to feed their families tonight despite me getting their $12 album for free today.

Everybody's stolen something at some point in their life, I don't care what you say. Take a look around at the glass walls in your house before you go chucking rocks.

I am a UNION TOOL & DIE MAKER; have been one for 15 years. Your carpenter analogiy rings a little hollow since I see too many "Union" carpenters, electricians, pipefitters, steelworkers, etc. rolling up to the jobsite in a Toyota pickup, Nissan pickup, or Honda Ridgeline. Real Solidarity there. I'm not saying YOU drive a Jap truck, but to whomever; if the shoe fits...

I'm not looking for an argument. I was just saying that Metallica's new album is good. Yeah, Lars rubbed me the wrong way when he forgot who the f@#k he was, and went all corporate and started railing against the fans for copying music. How many Budgie, Queen, Deep Purple, Saxon, Motorhead, or Diamondhead cassettes do you think he dubbed for his homies growing up in San Francisco back before he had a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of? The guy was being a hypocrite by doing what he did, when he did it, because he, as a music fan, like all of us, had done exactly the same thing. Don't tell me you never made a mix tape for someone before. Same thing.

For what it's worth, and I will swear on my beautiful children to this, today was the first audio I have ever "illegally" downloaded. I usually buy songs or albums off iTunes for my iPod, or get CDs from my library to upload into my iPod, although, I suppose THAT's stealing too?

Sorry for the diatribe, but I needed to respond.

Pirate bay huh, thanks BR i'll check it out. I'll just say this on this subject..... I pay for the internet every month so....whatever I get off of it, be it information, music, what have you, I paid for it.  I realize that is way shallow and very thin but to me it's all the same.  How much information have we given each other on this very site that is copied from a FSM, etc..... ain't nobody complaining there. :Twocents:

I'm all for the freebies man, and besides, it ain't like i'm selling stuff, I just want to hear it and don't have the cash to go buying a cd every week.  My thing used to be DVD's and I have a thousand plus movies that I wish I could have received for free(do the math, that is like $20,000 I have spent on movies, man am I stupid although I hold my own in most trivia games and that plus $1 will get you a soda)  We've all recorded a show I would imagine :scratchchin:

RAV, that was not directed at you at all, just throwing in my .02.

By the way, the new Metallica spin is really good.....as I said on another thread, All Nightmare Long is my favorite rip so far.
