BROCK

Car was made June 09th & has a 26" radiator!
Who else will help decode the rest?

1972Rallye, here's what the plate says:

26                               N23
FE5      I        V21 C16
FE5 E6X9  TX9 609 E36921
E86 D21 WH23 U2A 204833

Anything you can tell me about the car would be great (other than it's a fake! lol....)

Thanks guys.  It's in pretty decent shape, missing some trim stuff and I took the crappy headliner out......stops and turns ok....goes fast in straight line...lol...

It's FE5(?) red, with the correct hood black out and Rallye doors and decals, but the 71 side stripe.  I'll post pictures next weekend.

That would be great!  I only have nine 440 - 4 speed cars in my informal registry. Two of those are FE5 Red and neither of those have stripes like you mentioned.  I'd love to hear more about it (other options, etc.)! I can help with decoding if needed.

This is from memory - someone else can probably fill in/correct.

26 - 26" radiator
N23 - Electronic ignition
FE5- Bright red in color (likely to be roof color - ie no vinyl top?)
I - ?
V21 - ?
C16 - Console
FE5 - Bright red in color
E6X9 - This is the interior code, x9 = black. Not sure about the "E". Does it have houndstooth inserts?
TX9 - I think - black paint on door jambs
609 - Build date June 9
E36921 - ?
E86 - 440 magnum
D21 - manual 4 speed
WH23 - Charger, high price class, hardtop
U - 440
2 - 1972
A - Lynch road assembly plant
204833 - sequence number

This car was built near the end of the 72 production run. Who knows, maybe the LAST 440 4speed Charger ever built? That would be quite cool. If not, certainly one of the last.

I also have 72 - it's not a Rallye but it gets Rallye'd !

WHERES THE PICS !   :RantExplode:

1972Rallye

RallyeMike did a pretty good job - I filled in where his memory failed him  :icon_smile_big:

I have this car in my "registry".  It is the latest 440 4speed car I show and it was built a week after mine.  I have 3 with later build dates, but they are all autos.

I also have several pics of it from an auction about a year ago. Has any progress been made on it?  It was in primer...  Do you have the Broadcast sheet for the car?  I'm VERY curious to see if your car came with N42 (Bright Exhaust Tips).  Supposedly, they were not available on 440 4speed cars.

Wow! That is really cool........I bought it from a guy in Florida who must have gotten it at auction. It's about 80% done -- pretty much the headliner plus all dash electrics. Paint is ok, and motor is pretty strong, as is tranny/brakes/etc.  It needs some details too but overall seems pretty solid.

It does not have a rear cut out valence or the shiny tips - clearly an aftermarket setup with X pipe, etc.  No "bright tips" although two chrome tips were underneath the seat up front. No idea if they are stock, they don't look like it.

Do you have pictures of teh car at the auction? Can you e-mail them to me at jeffyoung@mvalaw.com?

Thanks a bunch.

Jeff

Foreman72 - The black door jams is only the area around the perimiter of the trim panels, not the entire door jam area.  It keeps you from seeing body color from the interior of the car...

Jeff - I'll e-mail you links to all the pics I have of it tomorrow.  Glad to hear it is progressing.  It was a bit rough a year ago, as you'll see. :eek2:

Thanks for the info on the exhaust.  I haven't seen one coded for N42 yet...  :scratchchin:

I was looking at to get this one 3 years ago but the seller an me just didn't get along, he said I asked to many questions, he wanted me to buy the car without asking a question.... Anyways, yes it is a 440 Rallye with a 4sp and Dana, color is Yellow with Black guts.
Please don't ask about the tag, that was one of my questions to him and the answer was it is there but I do not want to tell you what is on it unless you put a deposit down on the car.....
I wonder who may have bought this car, anyone here seen it?

There goes nacho again....well find one for you eventually  :yesnod:

1972Rallye

Relax, Nacho   International order only means the order was received from outside the US.  It was not unusual to have Service men and women stationed overseas order new vehicles for whatever reason.  No guarantee of a Kilo-Speedo.

That spot on the tag will always have  a U, C, or I.  U=US, C=Canada, I=International.  It relates to the Broadcast Sheet upper right corner next to the "Y" fields.  Fuzzy pic is of mine, but you should be able to make it out...

Nacho-RT74

I'm relaxed, but ALLWAYS THERE IS A CHANCE LOL...

the pic of the 240 Kilo speedo I had on PARTS WANTED ADD was from a 71 R/T built in USA under iInternational order, to be shipped to Switzerland. Apparently car never was shipped ( found it on ebay in USA )

Soo, allways there is at least a chance than an "I" car will be with Kilo Speedo  :nana:

anyway if resto was began, maybe already was changed , if really had it in the past  :-\

Nacho. You can get a decal silk screened to re-face any gage. You should be able to re-face any 150 mph gage to kmh.

well yes, but:

-I have seen personally the decals being sold aroud in my USA trip to Carlisle and REALLY the printing quality is far away I would wish. Numbers are really BLURRY.

-odometer will be still in miles.
