Would a 8 3/4 axlehousing be the same for a -69 GTX and a -68 Charger? Why I ask is because the charger has a -742 carrier and the GTX a -489 but there is a difference
in length of the driveaxles.  :scratchchin:

'68-'70  B body 8 3/4" axle housings and axles are the same length.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I have read somewhere that 68/69 was the same, with 54- 15/16, or something like that, and the 70 was 55.    :shruggy:
Since we only live once, and all this is not just a dressed rehearsal, but the real thing............ Well, enjoy it!!!!

The housings '68-'70 are the same, even the P/N is the same.

Thanks! Is it the difference of the carriers that demands different lengths of the driveaxles?

Well, after putting the shorter axles and the 3rd member from the charger in the housing from the GTX I can confirm 8 3/4 excist in different lengths.
Had to put the longer axles in to get the wheels turning at load, when the car was jacked up and put in gear it worked but not otherwise.
