How much effect if any would a fuel stabilizer have on stale gas? I really hate to waste 8-10 gallons of gas in the MH.

This is what is said about Sta-Bil. So I guess I found my own answer. In the Q&A about Sta-Bil it can do nothing for stale gas except keep it from detiorating any further.

About this product:
Sta-Bil fuel stabilizer keeps fuel fresh for quick, easy starts after storage
It removes water to prevent corrosion and cleans carburetors and fuel injectors
Protects engine from gum, varnish, rust, and corrosion and Prolongs engine life
Eliminates need to drain fuel before storage
For all 2 cycle and 4 cycle gasoline and diesel engines

I put Sta-Bil in all my cars if they are going to set for more than a month between starts.   If you have ever seen the inside of an old gas tank from a car that has sat for a long time it will blow you mind how hard and nasty the varnish buildup is when gas breaks down. I have seen 2 inch thick hunks of hard plastic like varnish buildup from gas breakdown.  Plus it will require you to rebuild your carb if you keep letting it sit without stabilizer over time.  That varnish sets up all in your lines and everything.  Its nasty.

My '68 Charger sat for more than 10 years after which I drained about 7 gallons out of the tank.  When I looked inside, it looked clean and almost new.

I would syphon out the stale fuel and put in some fresh fuel with stabilizer and run it for about 15 minutes to make sure the stabilizer gets into all of the fuel system.
Take your stale fuel and pour in a couple of gallons into your daily driver each time you go down to fill it up. I do this all the time and have never had a problem.

Sounds like a winner.

I heard that fuel stabilizer, while preventing varnish build up , will also lower the volatility of the fuel.
