My first car show with my Charger-lots of pics!!!

Ok, so in this town, in the downtown area, at the end of the month on a Friday they have what they call a "block party"-covering about 3-4 blocks-businesses do special things, art galleries stay open later than usual AND there's a car show-anyone with a ride they want to show off, show up at a certain time and that's it.

after going one month and seeing way too many modern mustangs, I figured why not? I had seen 3 Mopars last time, 2 extremely awesome 70 challengers and the meanest looking Duster I've seen yet.

it's Louisiana and its been raining non stop, when it doesn't rain it's muggy and nasty as it can be....and of course, today it rained. For a while it seemed like the show wouldn't happen but I went anyway and many of the other car dudes felt the same way. Just hanging out while the rain kept on pouring but thankfully, the rain quit, more cars started showing up and it rolled on.

It was disappointing that my 73 Charger was the only old school Mopar, out of 3 total-very under-represented. Lots of very nice cars out though and I received plenty of props and love for my car, even if it's not in the best condition (yet). The new Challenger stole a bit of my thunder, so to speak, as so many people hadn't seen one up close. But I had plenty of people tell me how they love the old school better, "now that's a real Mopar!", "now that's a real Charger!" etc etc.

I had a modern mustang next to the Charger and they must have spent a mint of money to make it sound as mean as it does-and these dudes seemed to turn that car on and rev it up every 5 minutes. The modern Charger and the new Challenger also did the whole, turning on, revving the motor stuff a few times...and guys, they sound WEAK!!! I'm not saying they suck but there's something missing with that sound...the sound of old school muscle, the sound i've heard coming from any old school mopar i've heard. After the millionth time the dudes in the mustang revved up their motor, my friend Kris said "ok, I've had enough of that, lets hear some real muscle!" and I let him have some fun with my car, got a LOT of cheers, hell yeahs, someone even yelled "DUKES OF HAZZARD!!!!" and the dudes in the mustang shut off their ride immediately and had their jaws dropped...and I only got a 400! I wouldn't have revved my motor as I'm pretty chill and modest, I know what I have, I keep it cool like Steve Mc Queen and Fred "the hammer" Williamson, you know? but it was still awesome hearing that power coming from MY car, that power completely blowing away the sounds coming from the modern mustang and the 2 modern mopars. No disrespect now-the new Challenger is sweet and that 4-door sedan that is decent but not worthy of the Charger name is nice too but they were lacking in that mean, mean, mean sound.

anyway, I'll be doing it again next month, hopefully there will be more old school mopars-i'd love to see the 2 badass 70 Challengers and the Duster from hell again and I know there's a superbee and a 70 charger (the dude is still tinkering with it) around these parts too.

whatever the owner of that truck had under that hood, was AWESOME!!!
