Well I was not able to find much online.  What I've got is my '64 Dodge fender tag and VIN and I'd like them decoded.  If you guys can help, that would be GREATLY appreciated.

Could you please post the 3rd and 4th row like this: A-3, F-2, etc

Because they really don't line up... Got the rest already covered in a word document, if you can give me the 3rd and 4th row, I'll post it here.

This is what I made of it so far, if I got something wrong please say so. I hope you can get the file from Skydrive. It's a PDF

Btw I have no idea what L-6 and Q-1 would have to be... Are they lined up correctly?

I've got A-3  F-2  H-5 L-6 M-3 Q-1 R-4 T-5 W-2

I found this on the 62-65 site.  Looks like it was a 426 wedge car and the L-6 was for rear speaker.  Is there any way I can edit that pdf so I can save it on my computer with the new additions?  I appreciate the work you've done for me Arthur.

Thank you!

No problem, had been a long time since I decoded a fender tag. Used to do it a lot on here, I got kind of rusty ;). The T-5 doesn't make any sense, I don't have any battery code that ends with a 5, and the 4 is the one for the 426W that didn't make sense at first, but does now. I uploaded both the word document and the pdf so you can edit them. I already changed the L-6 and the R-4, if you find out what Q-1 means I would like to know!

Arthur,

From a site that I was reading, the QR was the plant's (Hamtramck) code for the engine others had AB, etc. and the 14 was the Street Wedge code.  I appreciate the help you've done for me and the spiffy PDF.  I owe you one!

Foreman: Thanks for the site, but the earlier tags are different than the later tags. Whole new ballgame.  My VIN is just numbers, they didn't have that system until later.

The book I have never listed that, but that makes a lot of sense I just had the 4 which is the 361ci. Btw I revised the document for you so that it doesn't have the Q1 anymore. And properly lists the QR14 now. Pretty nice car btw, is it in  good condition?

It's in decent shape, needs resto, but since it's so stripped down it won't be hard.  Motor and tranny are missing.  Here's a thread on it from April when I bought the car: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,42953.msg472759.html#msg472759

The guy had taken the tags off because he was afraid they'd get stolen, and he finally found them and gave them to me.  Was a beautiful car when it was new (I've got a picture) and probably pretty decently powered  ;)

Nice car! Looks really straight, have you done anything to it since? Btw looked like the pdf didn't upload, the correct one is up now.

To tell you the truth, all I've done is look at it every morning when I leave my house.  I've got a friend with a 426 wedge that I may buy from him.  It sucks being 19 and not being a millionaire  I did submit it to Mopar Muscle Rare Finds though.  Hopefully I can be in that, seeing as how they are getting kind of dry lately (4 doors, etc.) Time to bring back a truly rare one.
