Rear Speaker Switch...where exactly is it supposed to be located?

The previous owner of my baby installed the switch where the reverse light goes, so I wish to move it to its proper home (I picked up a reverse light at the Mopar Alley car show). I've attached a photo of a '68 dash that shows the switch mounted to the right of the radio, using what seems to be a unique plate that mounts over the one-piece plastic dash panel. What say the experts?
