Stupid Pet Peeve?

Ok this is the stupidest pet peeve ever I think lol! It's the term MOPAR being used way too often. On the commercials and such there was one where if you buy a Jeep you could get "$1000 in free MOPAR accessories" (the world mopar being said louder and deeper than the rest of the sentence). Personally when I think mopar I think old muscle. I remember 5 years ago the local dodge dealerships never even used the word mopar. Now the word is being slung around way too freely in my opinion.

Someone I know recently said that he deals in mopar parts so I asked him what parts he could get for my '76 Aspen. He then told me that he doesn't deal with vehicles more than 10 years old.

It's only because we are finally getting the brand recognition.  The term Mopar has been around for many decades but it's spilling over into the mainstream more and more.

MOPAR has been around a long time. It applies to a lot more than just a few years of musclecar production. Wear it with pride!

The Ad Marketing Guys are just cashing in on the Brand Equity,..
"Hemi" R/T Super Bee,... Daytona, Charger, Challanger, some are notthing more then a stripe they put on the car...
But they realize the names still carry weight in the marketplace so some guy in the market for a family car can say he has a "Super Bee".
with out having to find, restore, maintain or tune 3x2s or dual Fours,.. just write a check.
just sayin...  :D

It's easier to say, that's why. Just go stand in front of the mirror & watch your face as you say the words. Start with the word "Mopar" then "Dodge" then "Plymouth" then "Chrysler" & you'll agree.

Your mouth is normally in a closed position, unless you're someone like mustanghater who probably has that open mouth look that says "DUH" all the time. The MMM sound from the word Mopar can be said with very little effort. Next, try saying Dodge, & you'll have to curl & move your lips which takes more facial muscles to say DDD sounds. Plymouth won't be so difficult, but they're gone now & not really an issue. Now the word Chrysler is the toughest. It has that KKRR sound at the very beginning, the ICE in the middle, & the LER at the end. Still only 2 syllables, but probably 3 if you drink. I bet you can say Mopar while being drunk & it'll still be easy.

Ahem...

Way before you were born (1937), it started out as MoPar which was shortened from "Motor Parts".
