I'm selling this bare 383 block but I'd like to know what it came out of in case someone asks. I know it's an F 383 70 block and the VIN stamp starts with "0C" (0 = 1970) but I'm curious what make and model if that's possible to find out. Here's the pics:

Don't know if it will help, but it came out of the  Jefferson Avenue, MI, USA plant.

Which of the numbers says it's a Chrysler?

The Jefferson plant, C in the VIN, only built Chryslers and Imperials.
Imperials were 440 only as well as the Chrysler 300 and New Yorker.
That leave the Newport, Newport Custom or T&C wagon as possibilites.

I was looking over Galen's books yesterday at a friend's house and I noticed it said the 383 was used in some 1971 cars, which I didn't know. Would this be one of them? What 71 would have had a 383 instead of a 400?

I thought the 400 overtook the 383 in '72. :shruggy: I know the Dodge Charger Superbee came standard with a 383.

The VIN tells us this came out of a 70 model year car
All sorts of B, C and E bodies used the 383 in 71. The 400 didn't come out until 72.
The 360 was released in 71 in C bodies only. Maybe that was the reference you saw????
