My car smells

Any suggestions? My car fills the garage with the smell of fuel after I park it. I see no leaks under the car or when the car is running. I have a Holly 850 and a carter pump. Never used to do it.

You car could have a leak that is near, say, the intake manifold and it is burning off before you can see it pool.  Also, see if there is a venting situation, etc.

If it has been a while, I would replace all your rubber hosing, including that one from the tank to the first steel line that no one replaces.

I would check and see if the accelerator pump is leaking.  That will leak after the car has been running and it will leak until all of the gas drains out of the carb.

Remember, you have an open vent tank system, which means gas vapors will naturally come out of the 1/4" vent line that's on the tank. Don't plug it up or you'll see what + pressure does...I've seen leaks at the filler neck & at the sending unit because of guys plugging the return line. Eventually the gas tank implode on itself if it can't suck air.

Thanks I'll check those out. Thanks for the help so far. It only does it after a drive. It doesn't smell the next at all.

I'm thinking the carb acc pump too on this one. Probably leaking from the back one and pooling in the manifold.

Rob R,  This sounds like it could be it. But I really don't know much about the carb. Could you be a little more descriptive on where it is venting thru. Wouldn't the fuel stay in the float bowls?

Thanks Ramit, Thats what it was. The rear pump was leaking on the valey pan and stinking up the place.
