I need your help. For those of you that do not have a charcoal canister or have removed yours, how do you
vent your gas tank vapors? I have a 74 charger and there is alot of pressure building in the tank. I have the original
line that runs into the engine compartment to where the charcoal canister used to be but that is it, and that
line is capped. I would rather be safe then sorry.

Thanks

DANF

Old School,

I have a 74' and I removed the canister as well.  I have (3) lines coming from the tank - the main fuel line (3/8"), the Return Line (1/4"?) and the Rollover Venting line (5/16").  I believe  you can cap off the rollover line but the return line needs to be vented.  You can attach it to a Vapor separator style fuel filter if you have one.  Got this info from FF Ron. :yesnod:

good luck

Thanks Dan.

This is not the original gas tank. I have 1 gas line and 4 vents ? 1 line runs to the front of the car and the other three are capped.
Could I still use a Vapor separator style fuel filter? Any other ideas?

I bought a new gas tank since the one that came with the car was leaking.  Long story short, all 4 vent lines were capped on the old tank, and I believe they are done the same way on the new tank.  What could/should I do about this.  The fuel sending unit is on the passenger side and the vent holes are drivers side.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  And can you please tell me what kind of problems having all the vent holes capped might cause.

Do you still have have the expansion tank thats located inside of the back left wheelhouse. Thats where those four vent lines are suppose to attach to.
I would get one because if you have a full tank of fuel and its a hot day, fuel will expand and you'll be dumping it out the filler tube.
Another thing that will also happen is when your fueling up. The air that gets trapped in the tank has no place to go so you won't get a completely full tank of gas.

Can the the expansion tank be capped meaning the 4 lines that are coming from the tank to the expansion tank then the  line that goes up forward can that that line be capped?   :popcrn:

is there a vented gas cap that would work and if so would that take care of the issue or any danger

Goodz

Good question.  I would love to know the answer to this as well.

I tried to find a vented cap that would work but no luck.So I drilled a small hole in the edge of the cap I had and it would leak when full on hills. So I bent a vent line up int the trunk like the older models and attached it to one of the 4 vent lines. No more problemsand took an afternoon with a minimum of blue language. Good luck

I have the same prob. and was wondering about using a vent end off of a front axle on a 4x4 truck?  I have seen fuel filters installed backwards on the vent, but the ones I have looked at still allow some through.  That could be bad in an accident or something.
