I just read this and am wondering if its true?...

"To test the stall on your current torque converter: With the engine running and the brake pedal held firmly with your left foot put the selector in drive and depress the accelerator fully to the floor with your right foot for two to three seconds. Your stall speed will be the maximum RPM shown on the tach."

That is the factory recommended procedure that will produce "footbrake stall speed", I would recommend placing the shifter in "1" rather than Drive. Ultimate stall speed depends on the power input and the ability of the brakes to hold the car, in some high power manual brake installations the brakes won't hold at full throttle.

Some will argue that the converter can be "flashed" to a higher stall speed and therefore the footbrake method is inaccurate but most cars don't have the capability to accurately produce flash results.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
