What do I need to strip down my remote driver's mirror on a 73?

I'm cleaning some space so I can finish up my project. If I can't get these mirrors all the way stripped down, blasted, and painted I'm going to throw them away. I tried getting the passenger side mirror glass out and I could only get one of those screws out. Then the pedastal screws totally stripped out even with a powerful electric drill. My remote driver's side mirror is apart, but I can't figure out how to remove the control so that I can separate the pedastal and the base so I can blast them. Can it actually be done? What tools do I need?

Need ingenious to spread the joystick points where wires are inserted. They are pressed there.

label the wires on same points where removed to be sure they will move correctly when mounted back, matching with joystick movement. Normally tehya re already colored/labeled but probably not anymore
