how to replace body bushings?

Anyone have any info on the "safe way" to replace body bushings on a 73 charger.  My guess was to jack up the car with the jack on the sub frame next to the bushing i need to replace, then put a jack stand with a 2x4 under the body right next to the jack and then lower the jack after I get the bolt off with the stand holding the body up.  Replace the bushing then jack the subframe back up and replace the bolt?  Will that trick work?  My worry about this sub frame setup, is I will never get that bolt and hole to line back up or cause my car to get out of plumb and screw it up.

Never done it on a sub frame setup before.  Any help would be greatful.

I could have the terms mixed up.  Its not a solid frame from bumper to bumper like trucks I have worked on.

K frame... are we talking maybe about the isolation of K frame ?

I am going to need to crawl under my car and take some photos I guess.  I dont know what they are called. I just call them body bushings.  The ones I have are all but rotted out.

Its this set of bushings:

No more saggy, worn-out body mounts.
With Prothane's polyurethane body mount bushings, you can drastically improve your ride in just a few hours. One of the best and most cost-effective ways to improve the handling and feel of your pride and joy is to replace those mushy and worn-out body mount bushings. These high-quality polyurethane bushings not only outperform even new OE rubber bushings, but they last much longer and are less prone to deteriorate. They give you extra rigidity for excellent handling, yet are forgiving enough for those long hauls.

yeah those are the K members ones.

I made without remove anything. what I made is loose a little bit the upper control arm plate from K member. They are 4 5/8" bolts visible below the Upper control arm... NOT LOOSE COMPLETELLY, that will be mortal! . That is to have some extra room once I jack and lift the car on frame rail. K member will stay low

what I don't remember is if I released tension of T bar or not

EDITING... I THINK I DIDN'T TOUCH T BARS, SINCE THAT HELPS TO PULL DOWN THE FRONT END INCLUDING K MEMBER

cool, I will give it a shot this weekend. I did not want to try it and not have the holes line back up with my body up in the air.

did you just jack the body up? or did you jack up the frame then lower the body down on a jack stand after you knock the bolts loose?

remove bolts from bushings, loosen ( juuust loose, maybe 1/3-1/4" ) bolts from upper control arm plate, jack up the CAR on FRAME... K frame will keep loose and stay low with wheels on floor.

make one side at a time to don't loose aligment between K frame and frame, but to get more room loose all bushing bolts and remove just the two you will work on.

is some tricky anyway but can be done!
