I am trying to pull the engine out of my 70 Charger and for some reason cannot get to the driver side big lower enginemotor mount nut to stop it from turning so I can get the bolt out.

How do you guys get to that big nut? A socket does not want to fit over it due to the frame being in the way and even the oil pump is in the way which will not slide out due to no clearance with the frame.

i had a buddy reach down with a box end wrench and hold the nut as i cranked on the bolt, worked well for all 4 of the motors ive pulled

Maybe see if you can stick a big screwdriver down there and wedge it between the block and the nut. This might work to stop it from turning whlie you turn the bolt.

on all my mounts the nut is secured to the mount so you should only have to turn the bolt out. you might need to put a open end wrench on it if the nuts spinning.     might also just pull the mounts from the block to the mount and deal with the striped nut when you get the motor out.

I will probably just take out the bolts from mounts to the block like you mentioned but I will probably try wedging a screw driver or getting someone else to try and get a box end wrench on there like the other guys were saying........but on another note I dont recall ever seeing any engine mount bolts that were already secured to the K-frame...at least not on 68-70 B-bodies???

Thanks guys for all the tips!

the bolt goes though the mount from the rear on the drivers side, then through the k frame and then threads through the frontside of the mount that has a nut attached to it.

Yep,I see what you are saying. My engine mounts are solid so they are probably aftermarket and dont have the nut welded to the mount. Now that I think about it all of my mopars have had solid engine mounts.

I am going to weld the nuts to the engine mounts when I get them out also!  :flame:
