Does anyone know if they offered the same console and arm rest option as was on the 66's and 67's on the 68? The pic below was taken from a 67 Charger, and I want to duplicate this set up in my 68. I'm not a fan of the full "buddy seat" and I love the console look. I'm trying to find out if there was a ligit blend of the two for 68. So was a set up like this an option for 68 and does anyone have an example photo of what the 68 blend might be?

Next question, do the 67 console doors fit 68 consoles? They look really similar.

Thanks for the input here.

The 67 and 68-70 consoles are the same, only the trim differs and by trim I am referring to the top plates not the chrome strip on the side.  The buddy seat thing you speak of is not a buddy seat on the 67 it's just the lid for the console compartment.  You could get a separate buddy seat for a 67 Charger but it's like the 2nd gen ones.  If you sit on the padded cover on a 67 console, you will crush the console.  Also the 67 console does not extend to the back buckets like a 66.  It ends and then there is a separate armrest "consolette" for the rear buckets in 67.

Soooo, no there was nothing similar in 68 but yes, you can easily take one off of a 67 and put it on a 68 console or even just bolt a 67 console in there complete.

Ghoste,

Thanks for the response. Great stuff. I am actually just looking for a place to sit my right elbow when driving. So have thousands of others as all consoles seem to be cracked at the rear.

I don't actually need a "buddy" seat and I think the 67 rest/console door will work fine. The question is, is it correct for 68? Am I going have MOPAR guys walking past my car at shows going "Hey, that arm rest on the console door" wasn't an option in 68!" Are the judges going to ding me? I need to know if the arm rest as the console door WAS a 68 option. So I can just say, "yea its correct, it was an option" :-)

Any help here on determining if the arm rest/console door was 68 correct?
Also it is great to know the 67 door will fit, if I put comfort before restoration accuracy.

Huge thanks again!

It was definitely NOT an option in 68 so if you are worrying about it being correct for shows then you will be disappointed.    Of course, that portion is only attached with four screws so you could always go through the hassle of ahving two, one for show and one for go.

Don't forget to tell him to pick up the angle brackets to mount the armrest plate.  Also, isn't that a '66? I thought '67s had the vertical stitching and die cast bolsters?

That one is 66 but the photo serves for illustrative purposes.  Also, yes you would need the angle brackets.
