Hey guys/gals,

Quick question. I have a 73 charger and the car was issued a NY State VIN because it was stolen, and recovered with the VIN plate ripped out. It has passed through a few owners before coming to me (were its gonna stay  :yesnod: ). Now, im curious to see if i can somehow find out the true VIN number. I have not looked for a built sheet under the rear seat yet, which i think is my only way of finding out the VIN. Or maybe somehow get a partial VIN and see if its on some registry somewhere. Any ideas?

Not sure where the VIN stampings would be on a 73 but you can try the engine block, trans and maybe the rad support for at least the last 8 digits of the VIN :Twocents:

Yep have the fender tag. Engine and trans have been replaced. Where on the rad support? Dont think they had stickers in 73, just on the dash.

Got the vin, now guess ill just see if the plate or the vin every pops up somewhere. Bordin, its originally a 318 car that someone swapped a 400 into sometime in its life. Its going to be a stroker when im done with it and more importantly have a nice warm garage to spend the rest of its life in :)

Amazing how attached we get to our cars.
