OK, I am stump. This year, I have replaces 3, yes 3 brake light switch this year and car has been droven maybe it 300 miles if that.

Problem is they stick on? Last one we used a GM injector O ring to space it out some, that lasted sense March. In that time to last Sunday car was driven 20 miles. As 41 Husk said "To get the brake lights off you need to pull the pedal to your goain"!

First 2 where made by Standred, this one came from NAPA.

At this point about the only thing keeping her from being ready for the Road.

so the bracket is bending or the bolt is not tight holding the bracket in place or the threads on the switch itself are stripped ?

Not being familiar with the 69' stop light switch I have to ask, does the switch just push through the bracket or is it threaded with a lock nut??

Many times, on many older cars I have found that people, (unknowenly), hook or catch thier foot on the brake pedal while getting out of the car. This can pull up on the pedal and place the stop light switch out of adjustment.  Also,,, some brake levers are suposed to have a rubber stop to keep this from happening and the rubber is gone or flattened out and not doing the job..

It can happen on newer cars too Steve.  I managed to do it on our minivan a few weeks ago.  I wish I had your post to read then because it would have saved me 20 minutes of screwing around to find it. lol ;D
