I'd like to know how much of a difference an electronic distributor would make as compared to the factory one?  I'd like to stay correct on this but was told the difference is quite noticable?  Is this true?  Thanks.

Electronic wins, hands down. Ask Troy, he just converted from points to Electronic on his 68 and it runs much  better  :2thumbs:

I agree use electronic distributor, we rebuilt a 440 for a friend of mines 69 RT and he was dead set on using his stock points set-up because he wanted it to look stock and I tried to convince him that it was junk and should be replaced but he kept it anyway but after fighting trying to get a nice idle out of it and a high rpm miss and telling him to replace it because I am tired of "tinkering with it" we replaced it with a mopar electronic conversion kit and wouldn't you know it PROBLEM SOLVED!

And if you're worried about the non-stock appearance, a little extra effort with hiding the wiring and the ecu will go a loooong way to lessening that.  Or you can use a Pertronix system.
While you're at it, upgrade to an electronic voltage regulator too.  You can get them now in a fashion that looks like the stock one and no one will ever know.
