All we can do is report it to ebay and write down the VINs.

I guess the only good thing is the guy is trying to sell it in a place that everyone can see and then flag it. Much better than a dark alley exchange where noone else is the wiser.

I reported it to ebay. What is really sad is there are people bidding on this stuff.   :rotz:

As much as you guys don't like what he's doing, I don't see anything illegal.  He is selling the items as a vehicle with a title.

Your right,  He is selling it as a vehicle.  But, where is the vehicle?

If he were selling the parts and maybe included the title I'd almost agree. I doubt that there is a definition of "vehicle" anywhere that would apply to a few pieces of metal and paper. When you "rebuild" a salvage car the state asks for a receipt, the part number, and any VIN stampings from any part that you purchased to put the car back together. They do this in order to track stolen vehicles but also to verify which car you're putting back on the road. The only reason to sell these items is to make a less desirable car worth more money and, even though the person doing the number swapping is the one committing the crime, I'm sure there's a way to be prosecuted as an accessory to the crime. I'm glad he posted the numbers publicly though in order to (hopefully) keep someone from getting conned in the future.

Looks like his conscience got the best of him anyways.  He cancelled both auctions. ::)

charger_mike75

I reported both auctions to ebay and sent him a message stating he would be an accessory to a felony.   :D

sick dawg

here is what I have left of the car :

1) I have the radiator support with the matching last six of the vin

2) I have the matching numbers engine block ,(vin stamped on pad)
the engine has the crankshaft , rods and pistons ,along with the oil pan and timing cover and balancer

3) I have the vin tag from the dash .

4) I have the data plate or trim plate as it is sometimes called

5) I have the build sheet

6) I have the title

That's all that left of this car ,nothing more

Well hello!!! If this is all that is left of this car...YOU DON'THAVE THIS CAR!   What??? Don't have the trunk lip or frame rail.  What a scam!

Good for you man. :2thumbs:
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Just to be the Devil's advocate on this, what if these parts were still attached to a totally rusted out unrepairable hulk, there would be no crime on his part but on the other end with what the buyer decides to do with it. I don't agree with it at all but is starting to happen more and more as guys re-body plain janes into more valuable cars. Glad to see that someone on here gave him the heads up on what he was doing.

That is what he should of done.  Would of saved him alot of working cutting the car up and wouldnt look so fishy trying to sell.

charger_mike75

I got a reply from the guy,

" I thought about what you said and as a result I have pulled both listings"

I know that, but that's not what I meant. He says he's selling a car with a title when in reality he only has parts of a car. There is a difference.
