my 74 charger...

ok so i was taking off my soft top because i decided that it looks better without, then i come across about 1/2 inch of bondo  :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall:

so i have ripped about a foot off and cant decide what to do... :flame: :flame: :'(

any suggestions?

mine had some under it as well, i think it was from the factory because i know for a fact that this vinyl roof has never been removed before.  mine has it filling in the gap between the louvers and the metal roof.  I sanded it out and theres no holes or rust under it, dont know its purpose except as a filler. i wouldnt worry about it much :Twocents:

There is filler in every roof.  Take some pics so we can see what you mean.

ya i mean under the bondo there is rust and mine has never been removed..

Honestly though, most vinyl top cars have rust under the top. You might have to replace the roof skin. Need pics though

It's very common to have bondo and rust under a 3rd gen vinyl roof. My 74 SE did.

If there is rust under there you'd be best off taking it all off and getting rid of the rust. :Twocents:

Yeah dont hesitate to rip the rest of the top off.  It has to come off anyway.  I do have a 3rd gen roof for sale, if it comes to that.  Did you get the pics today?
