I voted not the reason. the most important part of a Charger is the Driver. :coolgleamA:

without the hard work and love you put into it, it's just a piece of steel.

It would have to be the looks. Otherwise why not a Chevy, a Ford, or an Olds? The engine would be a close second - with the B and RB blocks, and Hemi.

A Charger can't be separated into any single, most important part. There have been many cars built over the years for one specific purpose, speed for racing, looks for show cars and the list goes on. The Charger is a different story altogether; the Charger is about the package deal. It's about the looks, the sound, the speed and just the simple pleasure of driving one coming together to put a smile on your face. The only way that smile will get any bigger is if the Charger is YOURS. Granted, some Chargers may be considered special because they were equipped with a Hemi or a 440+6 but IMHO those cars are no more special than a fully restored slant 6 Charger that someone has poured hours of blood, sweat, hard earned dollars and devotion into. There is a reason the Charger has long been Hollywood's poster-child for the ultimate rebel, bad@$$, good times, drive-in, getaway, long haul car. That reason is because the Charger is the package deal...

I'm more excited by a 318 powered Charger than a Hemi Cuda so it's gotta be the style.  :coolgleamA:

Definitely the looks, a Charger on the road just looks so menacing but in a good way, sure all the other options you mention are important but other cars sound good too, in fact any V8 sounds good really

   I.M.O.

It's the Balance of Style, Room, Comfort, Durability, and the History. The car truly is an Icon.
Plus as others here have noted a /6 or 318 charger looks as sweet as a HEMI DAYTONA four speed.
You can get four folks in the car and their luggage and have a Ball...
The Car's style inside and out is the equivelant to a Super Model and has the durability to provide high performance for decades given normal routine mantinance.
And the model's history goes from the RAMCHARGERS to Bullett to Daytona to The Dukes of hazzard and right up to to last year's NASCAR season.
mention the name "CHARGER" and everyone gets it. I concider it the highwater mark of the American automobile.

The Charger is not just a Muscle Car It's a SUPERCAR!

Gotta give the top notch to the car's looks/image.

Chargers also drive/power wonderfully too, but so do a lot of cheaper rides.

People really love the Charger.

I literally cannot go get gas, or go out for a drive, without people asking questions, commenting and telling me about the Charger, they or somebody they know used to have. (I think this is the best part of the hobby).

People are not nearly as interested in my hemi Challenger Convertible, even though both the car and the engine are much rarer than the Charger. The only time the vert gets anywhere as much attention as the Charger is when we are at a show where there are some knowledable "Mopar" guys.

I voted "looks" as most important (although "remarkable" might be the word I would use) because that is the thing that most stands out about the Charger IMO and the in the opinion of most people I know who aren't into Mopars or classic cars. Guys I know who love Chevies and Fords have literally nothing bad to say about how the Charger looks. If they do say something derogatory they're just messing with me but even then it's always a joke about it breaking down, falling apart, etc., never about the looks. Come to think of it I guess I'm pretty much the same way about Camaros and Mustangs depending on what year we're talking about. What's funny to see is when people who rarely pay any attention to cars get a good look at the Charger and are momentarily stunned by how it looks. It's like they've never seen a car before they saw the Charger. Hundreds of other muscle cars have the sound, the go, the whatever, but nothing looks as good as a Charger.

Death1970Proof

This is a hard question to answer....

The charger to me has always been dodge's flagship musclecar. Whenever you see one, you just cant help but think it's bad@ss! I remember seeing a '68 or '69 charger in black for the first time. I got weak in the knees. Whenever you see one at a show, all the other brand x cars are simply just that. The brand x guys will hate you because your rusty charger will gather more attention and looks than the guys '69 camaro next to you that he put $80k into.  The same weak in the knees feeling when I see a beautiful woman is present when I see a charger, they take you back to a better time when the roadrunners, dusters, darts, superbees and other muscle roamed the streets.
I love the chargers so much I'd love to put two of them in a garage, put on some cheesy 80's love song (George Michael -Careless Whisper  :smilielol:)  and then shut the door and see what happens  :icon_smile_big: :D then wait for the results!!!
