I would remove the tag and re-rivet it back on after painting the dash. you can find the rivets on ebay such as these: http://cgi.ebay.com/FOR-FORD-GM-MOPAR-ROSETTE-RIVETS-ROSETTES_W0QQitemZ250209206566QQihZ015QQcategoryZ72452QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem  The one listed in the link are stainless steel and the only ones on ebay right now. (that I found anyway)

I personally wouldnt remove the orig. rivets until I had replacements in my hand though.  :Twocents:
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .
My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

If it is a vehicle that could be in question someday I would leave it alone. You wouldn't gain much by removing it just to paint :Twocents:

Don't open that can of worms! Leave it in place.
