If i have power on the brown wire on the start rotation but no power on the blue wire when you let off, is this a bad switch or something else? Thanks  :shruggy:

where exactly are you checking ?

if you are checking at ballast, could it be just some loose on engine harness... plug at bulkhead or simply terminal.

If you are checking on ign switch itself, then yes, could it be damaged switch

I put a test light on the + side of the coil. When you crank the engine the light blinks and fires but when you let off of the ing switch the engine dies and the light looses power.I turned on the ing switch and put a remote start button on the solenoid under the hood and there is no power to the coil when you remote crank it with the switch on. So i guess it's the ing switch? Thanks

buddy, check at your ballast blue wire for 12 volts... probably you have ballast damaged.

Coil ( brown wire )  takes the power on RUN position from ballast being feeded by blue wire ign switch.

when you try to crank, the ballast is bypassed to be feeded by brown wire ign switch, spliced in to brown wire at ballast.

There is no voltage to ballast resistor with the key in the run position. Thanks

Nacho-RT74

ok, check at bulkhead and ign then, those are the only two points of fail about that.

good luck ;)

:shruggy:Ok i've got 12volts at the ballast now but how much should be coming out to the coil.I get 4.5 to5 volts.Shouldn't it be about 9 and the ballast get warm.I ran some wires to replace the stock wiring but i still have the same problem, can you ohm out the ballast if so what values should it have?Thks Ted :brickwall:

replace ballast, they are cheap enough
