LCA Powder Coating

Totally Auto has a powder coat color that resembles the Cosmoline coating originally used on the LCA, but they want $85 per LCA to coat them.  I can get this done locally for much less if I can find the correct color.  Has anyone done this or do they know the color or brand powder that Totally Auto is using?

I own a small powdercoating business in N.J , I will tell you more than likely he is buying powder from Tiger Drylac which is based in reading PA . without seeing a part powdercoated from him with so called powder that looks like Cosmoline , I cant give you a code . I do a great deal of resto work in my shop . very rarely do I powdercoat anything , maybe a K-frame , but not much more .

I think I might know what color this is . For me I would never powdercoat any color but black on a car I restore ! Why ? How do you touch something up after it gets scratched when its a custom color ? Just my two cents .

There's kind of a fine line between looking correct and being correct, isn't there? Some part of me says if we're not going to be correct why bother trying to look correct? This debate kind of started for me when I created a door handle thread and discovered (to my knowledge anyway) that no one reproduces the black plastic door button for '68 Chargers, so if you want a new black one you have to powder coat a new chrome one. What's the use? I don't know. The jury is still out IMO.

BTW, Totally Auto Inc. can be a bit dicey to deal with at times, or so I've heard.
