I bought a set from Fat Man Fabrications (704-545-0369) They fit great! Sorry best picture I could find.

What's the advantage of drop spindles?

dodgey68

CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG  BUT YOU CAN LOWER THE VEHICLE WITH OUT LOSING ANY OF YOUR SUSPENSION TRAVEL,

With stock spindles, my K-frame can hit the ground.  Why would one need more travel than that?

Because your torsion bars would not have proper tension on them and your upper and lower control arms would be in the full up position AND you would be riding on the snubbers.. With all of this you would not only have a crappy ride but your control would be lousy.

Let's say you put a set of 2 inch drop spindles on your car. This would allow you to drop your front end by 2 inches without disturbing your ride and control. Also you will still have full travel of your front end..

just make sure that you have good shocks and strong bars or else the car could bottom out easier.

I don't have drop spindles in my car, it's lowered 3.5" in the front and it rides great. It's firm, but not harsh.

Drop spindles have their place on some cars.
But man, you've really gotta watch those setups when it comes to bottoming out.

With the stock spindle, the bottom of a 14-15" wheel rim is about even with the underside of the K-frame on full upward bump.  The factory basically wanted the car to be able to blow out both front tires without the K-frame digging into the pavement.

So if you've got drop spindles and a tire is also being compressed hard during a big bump, then you're out of room before you even fully bottom the suspension arms.  You could potentially bang the K-frame into the pavement before you even feel the front suspension hit the bumpstops.    Not pretty.

Other than an old set of A body arms what would you recommend instead of the 2" drop spindles?

Mike DC

The 2" drop spindles would be less of a ground clearance risk if the front wheels were larger than the old 14"-15" ones.  A set of 17" front wheels would make the drop spindles much less risky.  Every 2" added to the wheel's diameter will add 1" to the distance between the center hub and the bottom lip of the rim.

Other than that, you just have to be careful.

And it would help a to run some stiff front torsion bars & shocks so the front end doesn't compress as readily on every bump.  Lowered suspensions and stiffened springs/shocks usually go hand-in-hand on any car project.

I suppose you also could run the 2" drop spindles with the front bumpstop raised up a little on the LCA.  Might create more of a 1" drop spindle.
