i get $600-700 every time i let go of one, which isn't all that often. now i don't think anyone is referring to a 78 motorhome motor though.. hey if you're close. i'l give you $500 for every good standard bore 440 you find. how's that

If you say they are going for $600 a core , why would I sell it to you for $ 500 ?  :scratchchin:
Boy, I need to bend people over the fender a little further when I sell parts . I'm way too cheap .

If that's the way you want to look at it but it's a pretty common price in my neck of the woods. The last one I ran across was a '70 I believe and they wanted $1k for it and the 727 bolted to it. We're not talking bare block BTW, $600 is for everything from the motor mounts up to the air cleaner wing nut. As for rebuilding one? The cheapest stock rebuild price I've ever been quoted on a vintage big block Mopar is $2,300.

I have found a few real scores. Mostly the motor/tranny prices around my area are in the 700 - 1000 bucks. Nine out of ten of them ARE motor home and just the other day a 1973 Chrysler C body motor and tranny for $850.  Out of the car. Doesn't know anything beyond that.

I completely agree with Travis. Numbers cars are great if it is something in the monster money category to begin with. BUT the fact that you have everything from the original car,,,, I would have to keep it all together and only sell if you are getting what YOU need from the car..

Side note:   Do you know the track record from this car?? I ask because I have an ex-uncle that bought the exact car you have described in Niagara Falls brand spanky new. He was in the Army and from what I do remember he sold the car to a buddy in the Army some time later.  That was my first ride in a 68' Charger. I was just a little kid and remember being slammed against the back of the front seat when he nailed the peddle down...  :2thumbs:

This could be the same car.

The guy I bought it from told me he was in Vietnam.

He returned and bought the car new.

He also told me he took it out on the first run and broke the speedo.

Other than that it was said that went to the deal twice when new for tranny problems.

The car was in Tonawanda (spelling) when I picked it up. Which is under an hour from the falls.

The only other thing I remember was he had a really cute daughter who was around 17 or 18 at the time.

That was about 8 - 10 years ago now.

that was a pretty easy question there chief. it's because i don't pay market value for something. i always get a deal. i'd gladly pay $500, but just a few minutes ago, you acted as if you'd be raping someone if you charged over $600
