Anyone got a Feb 17th 1970 Build date on there charger?

This would be a 217 on your fender plate on the 4th line down, 2nd from the end of that row.
If so, what was your Sequence numer on your build sheet (the very first number in your build sheet on line 1)? Just curious.

We have 12 Chargers built on Feb 17th. As you know I can't give up numbers on personally owned cars. However, the closest ebay car to yours, would be 192091, and that VON is 111195. That doesn't help much, but it's probably the best you're gonna get.

I'm assuming that you mean his Vin was 192091 and the Sequence number for that one was 111195.

What I'm trying to see is if there were any close relationship of the Sequence number to anything. I'm assuming no but seeing a few Vin numbers to sequence numbers might make some corrilations.

From what I read, the Sequence number isn't related to anything, it was just an arbitrary number that the assy plant used for in house tracking of that car. But they must have assigned the number somehow.

My VON (vehicle order number) was actually 126612.

Difference between the one you listed if you subtract it is 80896. I wonder if that would identify mine? by adding that number to my VON? which would make my Sequence number 207408 maybe....hummmmmmm?

The date is the Scheduled Production Date or SPD. It is the day they HOPED to build the car when the order hit the system. There are several websites out there that say it is the date the car was made, but it is not true.

For 1970 Hamtramck cars the SPD seams to be within a three week window of the SPD - either three weeks before or after the SPD.

Edit - Corrected above sentence, it should read;

I bet the gap is not quite that wide for St. Louis since they had just one assembly line?

The broadcast sheet sequence number has a whole lot more to do with what car followed what car down the assembly line. The cars were rarely built sequntially by VIN.

It is something I am still researching for Hamtramck............

Look at the broadcast sheets where two (or more) different sheets are found in the same car. For 1970 Hamtramck, the broadcast sheet sequence times are usually quite close, but the SPDs can be weeks off and the VINs thousands off.

I have two examples recorded now where E and A body sheets were found in the same car, still connected to each other. The sheet sequence numbers are one right after the other. The dates are close, the VINs are not.

I still have a whole lot of research to do on the subject, but I am working on it.........
