Im thinking about making one myself. I have a spare crank out of a 318 in the basement. just sitting there collecting dust. Im gonna sandblast it (keep the bearing surfaces polished) and then anneal the metal so its darker :yesnod:

I sure hope they don't fall of the table cuz you won't have any feet left, but besides that they look great....

I've considered making a matched pair of lamps like that with the two 318 cams I have. Problem is I can't figure out how to wire it. I know I could just run the wire on the outside of the lamp but I would like to hide the wire inside the cam. The problem is even if I could find a drill bit long enough a cam is roughly 60+ rockwell hardness which is harder than most drill bits...

well, I am taking apart my junk 318 today, hopefully I can get to the crank tonight so i can get it blasted tomorrow. we will see if i make it.
