A friend of mine wants to convert the rear axle on disc brakes... Ppl down here says is posible getting donor parts from Cherokee ( or grand ) or Explorer.

Some of you have had experience with this ? what would it be the best option and what problems he could get to find on process ?

PS.: forget about get new and upgraded aftermarket parts from USA... he is trying to make it with parts available down here.

I have a rear brake kit that's Explorer based. I can't remember if it's all stock parts or if there's any adapter. I'll try to get the info.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

I haven't done it but I've thought about this stuff.

Ford's bolt pattern matches vintage Mopar wheels and that opens up a lot of possibilities.  Explorers are pretty heavy trucks.  And Ford's been making tons of them for long enough to really work the kinks out & get the aftermarket support by now.

I was wondering if anybody has found anything out yet? I was also thinking about going this route for a rear disc brake system.
