What's up all.  So, my car is finally coming out and I'm looking for a spot to store/work on it.  Any of you locals want to share a garage?  I'm trying to convince Mr Angry to join us.  :)  I'm thinking something commercial in BK/Qns/Jersey city/etc.  Or maybe a nice 2 car garage....  I've seen some stuff on craigslist but most I'm doubting will let us work on our rides.

Let me know if any of you are interested!

Ya know....I had an idea once....get a bunch of car guys together, rent an auto repair shop and split the bills. Bring in some tools, ect.....we could have car shop heaven! Just think what you could do with 20 guys and 100-200 each a month? I'd be in for that!

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

It's a cool idea. Too bad I live in Oregon.

You'd have to really trust everyone involved because it could turn out real ugly if someone decided to stop paying their share of the rent, sell your tools on Ebay or worse, take off with your car.

i can tell you from experiance, stuff will happen,.. i used to share studios with other bands and it got ugly fast... people "borrowing" stuff... breaking it and then the old..  :shruggy: "i dunno,..  it wasn't me"  crap...
Sometimes the democratic ideal seems great on paper, but when all was said and done, it's better to pay the full cost outright and avoid the problems that are caused by trying to save a buck, or depending on others with more loosely defined boundries...

Well, I guess it's all how it's set-up and managed....Recruit quality people...no rif-raf. Lock up or bring and take personal tools. No cars left overnight (maybe have to kick in more$$$$ to leave). Any number of things could be done with the right mix. 6 months security as club initiation fee......lots of things could be done to make it a success.

Something like this would make a hell of a nice business if you could set it up right....rent tools, lifts, sell parts on site.........the customers turn the wrenches....lots of possibilities...

I bought some parts from a guy in Nutley, NJ many years ago that did something very similar to this. He & 2 other friends rented several garages together located behind a garden apartment complex. The garages were clusters of 4 units, semi separate, & being divided with wire fencing. They rented one cluster of 4 & removed the fence giving them much more room around each car & a work area. It can work, but you really need to do it with people you know. Like Brock stated, s**t happens & people fight & steal. You also have remember that you never know who might tag along with one of the people you share with. A friend of a friend of a co-renter, might also be a dirtbag thief.

Good luck Jason, that sounds like a killer idea and it can work as stated above if done right like a business.  :2thumbs:  Chuck............
